Boost libido and tan without the sun!

Interestingly enough there is a medication to help with increasing libido in men AND women.  While they both come in injectable formats the best part is one can be taken orally and the other a nasal spray solution.    Get ready for the beach without the harmful UV rays!

PT-141: also known as Bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide analog of the naturally occurring hormone α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Initially developed as a sunless tanning agent due to its ability to stimulate melanin production in the skin, PT-141 gained attention for its unexpected side effect of increased sexual arousal during clinical trials. This led to its investigation as a potential treatment for sexual dysfunction, particularly hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), in both men and women. The mechanism of action of PT-141 involves activating melanocortin receptors in the central nervous system, specifically melanocortin receptor subtype 4 (MC4R). By binding to these receptors, PT-141 stimulates pathways in the brain associated with sexual desire and arousal, leading to increased libido and improved sexual function. Clinical trials have shown promising results for PT-141 in the treatment of HSDD (for which it does have FDA Approval for). In a phase 2b clinical trial involving women with HSDD, PT-141 demonstrated a significant improvement in sexual desire and satisfaction compared to a placebo. Similarly, studies in men with erectile dysfunction have shown improvements in erectile function and sexual satisfaction with PT-141 treatment.

Melanotan II: is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring hormone alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), which is involved in regulating melanin production in the skin. Initially developed as a potential treatment for skin conditions such as erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) and photoaging, Melanotan II gained popularity for its ability to induce skin darkening and tanning.

The mechanism of action of Melanotan II involves binding to melanocortin receptors in the skin, particularly melanocortin receptor subtype 1 (MC1R). Activation of MC1R stimulates the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin coloration, leading to increased pigmentation and tanning.

Melanotan II is typically administered via subcutaneous injection, and its effects on skin pigmentation can be observed within a few days of starting treatment. Users report a rapid and noticeable darkening of the skin, which can resemble a natural tan. Additionally, Melanotan II has been investigated for its potential to provide protection against UV radiation, although its efficacy for this purpose remains uncertain.

While Melanotan II is primarily used for cosmetic purposes to achieve a tan without exposure to sunlight, it has also been studied for its potential therapeutic effects. Some research suggests that Melanotan II may have appetite-suppressing effects and could be investigated as a treatment for obesity. Additionally, it has been studied for its potential role in promoting erectile function in men with erectile dysfunction.
